LEXINGTON, Va. — First-year outside hitter Ashleigh Meade (Bristow, Va./Patriot) and sophomore outside hitter Elly Cosgrove (Wilmington, N.C./John T. Hoggard) each recorded five service aces to propel the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Randolph on Saturday at the Warner Center.
The Generals (17-5, 7-2 ODAC) hit .385 as a team in the 25-13, 25-16, 25-16 victory. W&L had 39 kills and nine errors on 78 attempts. The WildCats (3-18, 1-8 ODAC) hit just .015 as a team in the loss. Randolph had 17 kills on 68 attempts with 16 errors.
Meade totaled a match-high eight kills, while hitting .583, and added five digs. Sophomore outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy), Cosgrove and first-year outside hitter Allison Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) each notched seven kills. Guignon and Cosgrove also had nine digs.
Senior Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) had six kills and four blocks. She now has 104 blocks this season, which is the 10th-best total in a single season in W&L history. First-year Anna Soroka (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) and junior Elena West (Roanoke, Va./Northside) split the setting duties. Soroka registered 16 assists, three kills and three aces. West had 12 assists.
Sophomore middle hitter Autumn Troxell led the WildCats with seven kills and four digs. First-year outside hitter Kennedy Webb had a team-best eight digs.
The Generals host the University of Dallas later on Saturday.
