BRIDGEWATER, Va. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team notched a .333 hitting percentage to top Meredith, 3-0, in a neutral-site contest at Bridgewater on Saturday.
The Generals (11-1) pushed their winning streak to 10, as they made quick work of the Avenging Angels (8-1), 25-19, 25-13 and 25-12.
W&L totaled 45 kills on 93 attempts with 14 errors for its .333 hitting percentage. Meredith had only 18 kills on 85 attempts with 19 errors for a -.012 hitting percentage.
Junior setter Elena West (Roanoke, Va./Northside) distributed the ball on offense with 30 assists to go along with six digs and two kills. First-year outside hitter Ashleigh Meade (Bristow, Va./Patriot) led the back row with 10 digs, while adding eight kills on just 15 attempts.
Sophomore outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) totaled 15 kills and six digs. Senior middle blocker Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) had six kills and five blocks. It marked the fifth straight match she has had at least five blocks.
Junior middle blocker Alex Hafliger led the Avenging Angels with four kills and four blocks. Senior defensive specialist Keegan Lynch had a team-best six digs.
The Generals return to ODAC play on Wednesday, when they host Shenandoah at 6:30 pm.
