ATLANTA, Ga. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team fell to 17th-ranked Clarkson, 3-0, on Friday at the Emory Invitational.
The Golden Knights (25-6) held the Generals (17-12) to a .109 hitting percentage in the 25-21, 25-18, 25-20 win. W&L totaled 28 kills on 92 attempts with 18 errors, while Clarkson posted 29 kills on 95 attempts with 13 errors (.274 hitting percentage).
Senior outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) led the Blue and White with eight kills, while senior outside hitter Kasey Cannon (North Wales, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) added six kills. Junior middle blockers Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) and Ellie Darbyshire (Savannah, Ga./Savannah Country Day) each had five kills, while hitting over .300.
Sophomore defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) totaled nine digs to lead the team. She moved her season total to 466. Volk now has the sixth-most digs in a single season in W&L history. Emily Wolfing '05 sits in fifth with 485.
Senior outside hitter Victoria Kirkemo had a team-best 11 kills for the Golden Knights, while hitting .409. First-year defensive specialist Tara Stilwell led the back row with 16 digs.
The Generals play Berry later on Friday at the Invitational.
