LYNCHBURG, Va. — Senior outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) and junior middle blocker Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) each totaled 11 kills to lead the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 victory at Randolph on Friday.
The Generals (7-4, 2-0 ODAC) cruised in the three-set win, 25-10, 25-13, 25-15, as the team played its first road ODAC match of the season. W&L held the WildCats (2-9, 0-2 ODAC) to a .000 hitting percentage as Randolph notched only 15 kills with 15 errors on 78 total attempts.
The Blue and White hit .412 as a team. The squad recorded 43 kills with only 10 errors on 80 attempts. Shand hit .588 on her 11 kills. She had just one error in 17 attempts. Lausberg registered a .429 hitting percentage with 11 kills on 21 attempts with two errors.
First-year outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) tallied eight kills and five digs, while sophomore defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) had a match-high 13 digs. Sophomore setter Elena West (Roanoke, Va./Northside) totaled 35 assists.
Junior right side Alex Mariona led the WildCats with five kills, and first-year setter Brooks Gillerlain had a team-high eight digs.
The Generals play at Lynchburg on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
