Guignon Leads W&L Volleyball to a 3-0 Sweep of SVU

BUENA VISTA, Va. — First-year outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) recorded a match-high 15 kills to lead the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep at Southern Virginia on Tuesday.

Guignon totaled the career high on a .429 hitting percentage, propelling the Generals (1-1) to the 26-24, 25-19, 25-15 victory over the Knights (0-2).

Senior outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) added nine kills and nine digs, while junior middle blocker Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) totaled eight kills.

Sophomore defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) led the defense with 17 digs, while sophomore setter Elena West (Roanoke, Va./Northside) registered 24 assists.

First-year outside hitter Allison Tiegs led SVU with 12 kills, and first-year defensive specialist Ofa Moa-Sam Fong notched 20 digs.

The Generals return to action on Friday when they take on Birmingham Southern at 3:00 pm at the Maryville Invitational.
