SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Washington and Lee volleyball team saw its 17-match winning streak come to an end in a 3-0 loss at fifth-ranked Wittenberg on Saturday at Pam Evans Smith Arena.
The Tigers (15-3) won the first set, 25-18, took the second, 25-17, and closed out the match in the third, 25-14.
Junior outside hitter Kasey Cannon (North Wales, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) led the Generals (18-2) with a match-high 10 kills. Junior right side Maddie Kosar (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) and first-year defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) tied for the team lead with eight digs. Junior setter Alex Kinzer (Greenville, S.C./Eastside) totaled 22 assists, while adding four digs.
Junior right side Kara Seidenstricker and junior outside hitter Kristina Fultz each tallied eight kills to lead Wittenberg. Seidenstricker also had a match-high 12 digs.
The 17-match winning streak ends as the second longest in program history. W&L won 25-straight matches during the 2007 season.
The Generals played John Carroll later on Saturday in a neutral-site contest at Wittenberg.
