LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team recorded a hitting percentage of .365 on its way to a 3-0 victory over Bridgewater on Saturday at the Warner Center.
The Generals (13-1, 3-0 ODAC) made short work of the Eagles (4-9, 1-2 ODAC) in the 25-18, 25-20, 25-11 win. W&L had 41 kills on 85 attempts with just 10 errors. Bridgewater hit just .098 with 27 kills on 82 attempts and 19 errors.
Junior setter Alex Kinzer (Greenville, S.C./Eastside) paced the offense with 25 assists. She also had nine kills on 13 attempts with one error for a .625 hitting percentage. Kinzer added seven digs and three aces, as she flirted with a triple-double.
Sophomore middle blocker Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) led the team with 10 kills on 16 attempts with two errors (.500) and added three blocks. Junior outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) notched eight kills in 17 attempts with one error (.412), while junior outside hitter Mansie Hough (St. Petersburg, Fla./Canterbury School) tallied seven kills on 12 attempts with one error (.500).
Junior outside hitter Kasey Cannon (North Wales, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) led the back row with eight digs, while sophomore defensive specialist Sam Moench (St. Petersburg, Fla./Berkeley Prep) had five and first-year defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) registered four.
Senior middle hitter Megann Grimes (Midland, Va./Liberty) led the Eagles with nine kills, and junior defensive specialist Nikki Snyder (Gettysburg, Pa./Delone Catholic) recorded nine digs.
The victory marked the 12th in a row for the Generals. The team played St. Mary's later on Saturday.
