BRIDGEWATER, Va. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team made quick work of N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday on its way to a 3-0 victory in a neutral-site match at Bridgewater.
The Generals (9-1) did not allow the Battling Bishops (1-6) to total more than 13 points in any set in the 25-13, 25-12, 25-13 win.
W&L had an even spread on offense as four players tallied four-or-more kills. The middle blockers did the most damage for the Generals, as sophomore Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) totaled seven kills on 10 attempts with one error (.600), and junior Jenna Gustafson (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) notched five kills on six attempts (.833). Gustafson also added three aces and two digs.
Junior setter Alex Kinzer (Greenville, S.C./Eastside) tallied 21 assists, while recording two kills and seven digs. Senior defensive specialist Kelly McManus (Osprey, Fla./Pine View) led the back row with eight digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Beth Bradham led N.C. Wesleyan with five kills on 18 attempts, and sophomore defensive specialist Christina Huber registered a match-high 10 digs.
The Generals take on Averett later on Saturday.
