Boles Earns AVCA All-America Accolade

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 2013 AVCA Division III All-America teams on Tuesday, and Washington and Lee senior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) was named to the honorable mention team.

This is the first All-America accolade for Boles, and she is the first W&L player to garner the honor since Jessica Ulrich '09 was named honorable mention in 2008. Boles is the seventh player in program history to receive All-America honors.

Boles led the Generals and the ODAC in kills this season with 415. In other conference categories, she was second in kills per set (3.52), 10th in digs (363) and 14th in service aces (39).

This season, Boles broke the W&L and ODAC career kills records and finished her career with 1,714. Along with the career kills record at W&L, Boles is first in total attacks (4,848), second in sets played (472), seventh in digs (1,412) and seventh in service aces (171).

Boles made the AVCA All-South Region team and earned the ODAC Player of the Year award for the second time in her career. She also was named First Team All-ODAC for the fourth time in her career, and received Capital One Academic All-District accolades.

The Generals fell in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday to Berry, 3-0, to finish the year 28-7. W&L made the NCAA postseason after winning its 14th ODAC Championship by defeating Lynchburg, 3-0, in the finals of the ODAC Tournament.
