GREENWOOD, Ind. — The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball teams on Thursday, and senior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) was selected to the District 5 team in the Division III category.
Boles, a team captain and a business administration and Spanish double major, will move onto the national ballot where she has a chance at earning Academic All-America honors. This is the second consecutive year she has earned Academic All-District accolades.
Earlier this season, Boles set the W&L and ODAC career kills records, and now has 1,684 in her four seasons. She leads the conference in kills (384), is 12th in digs (339) and 13th in service aces (38).
Along with the career kills record at W&L, Boles is first in total attacks (4,759), fourth in sets plays (462), seventh in digs (1,388) and seventh in service aces (170).
The Generals (26-6) are the top seed in the ODAC tournament and will host the semifinals and championship matches on Saturday in the Warner Center. W&L takes on fifth-seeded Roanoke at 10 am. The third seed, Lynchburg, plays seventh-seeded Bridgewater at 12:30 pm, and the winners of the two semifinals will play in the championship at 5:00 pm.
The criteria for the Capital One All-District program states that a player must be of sophomore academic standing, be a starter or important reserve and claim a GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. Washington and Lee is a member of District 5, which includes players from small colleges in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
