Boles Sets ODAC Career Kills Record in Win at E&H

EMORY, Va. — Senior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas) set the career ODAC kills record on Saturday, leading the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-1 win at Emory and Henry.

The 25-16, 28-30, 25-23, 25-20 victory secured the top seed in the conference tournament for the Generals (25-6, 10-1 ODAC).

Boles finished with a match-high 16 kills and 17 digs. She needed seven kills to break Roanoke's Heather Cook's record of 1,656. In the second set with the Generals trailing 16-10, Boles notched the record-breaking kill to cut the Wasps' (15-12, 6-5 ODAC) lead to a 16-11. She now has 1,666 kills in her career.

Senior setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) did a little bit of everything with 48 assists, five digs, three blocks and three kills. Sophomore outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) tallied 13 kills on 27 attempts.

Senior outside hitter Allison Rouse (Troy, Mich./Troy) and sophomore outside hitter Kasey Cannon (North Wales, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) each recorded nine kills. Cannon also had 15 digs, while Rouse registered 11.

Junior defensive specialist Kelly McManus (Osprey, Fla./Pine View) led the back row with 15 digs. First-year middle hitter Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) recorded eight kills and four total blocks.

The Generals will host the eighth seed on Wednesday in the ODAC Quarterfinals.
