LEXINGTON, Va. — While totaling a .330 hitting percentage, the Washington and Lee volleyball team swept Roanoke on Wednesday, 3-0, to remain perfect in Old Dominion Athletic Conference Play.
The Generals (18-5, 7-0 ODAC) totaled 46 kills and 10 errors on 109 attempts in the 25-15, 25-23, 25-17 victory. The Maroons (15-8, 5-3 ODAC) registered only 24 kills on 89 attempts with 18 errors (.067).
Sophomore outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) recorded a match-high 17 kills on just 24 attempts with one error for a .667 hitting percentage. She also added a service ace, one dig and three total blocks. Senior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) notched 13 kills, nine digs and two service aces. Senior outside hitter Allison Rouse (Troy, Mich./Troy) had five kills, four assists and seven digs.
Senior setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) distributed the ball on offense with 36 assists. She also led the team with five total blocks and had four digs. In the back row, junior defensive specialist Kelly McManus (Osprey, Fla./Pine View) tallied a match-high 15 digs.
Junior outside hitter Macy Tyree (Daleville, Va./Lord Botetourt) and first-year middle hitter Carrie Heldreth (Daleville, Va./Lord Botetourt) each totaled six kills for the Maroons. Senior libero Mackenzie Tyree (Daleville, Va./Lord Botetourt) led the team in digs with 13.
W&L struggled with its service game as it committed a season-high 18 service errors compared to only three for Roanoke. The Blue and White registered nine total team blocks, while the Maroons had three.
It was senior night for Boles, Meleski and Rouse, and the trio was honored before the start of the match.
The Generals play at Eastern Mennonite on Friday at 6:30 pm.
