LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team qualified for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament and will open play on Wednesday at home against seventh-seeded Roanoke at 6:30 pm. The second-seeded men's soccer team advanced to the ODAC semifinals after its win over Bridgewater and will host sixth-seed Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday at 3:00 pm.
The volleyball team enters the quarterfinals as the second seed with a 23-9 overall record. The squad finished with a 10-1 mark in the ODAC. The Generals' only conference loss came at Randolph-Macon, the tournament's top seed. Junior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) leads W&L and the conference with 405 kills (3.86 kills per set). W&L won at Roanoke (16-14, 5-6 ODAC) on October 19, 3-1. The winner of the match will play the winner of the Emory & Henry-Bridgewater match in the semifinals on Saturday, November 3, at the highest remaining seed in the tournament.
The men's soccer game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was moved in the anticipation of the severe weather that has threatened the majority of the east coast. With the semifinals now taking place on Thursday, the ODAC Championship game has been moved to Sunday at 1:00 pm at the highest remaining seed. The Generals (11-4-2) beat the Marlins (8-9-1) earlier this season in Lexington, 3-0, on September 19. The winner of the semifinal will face the winner of the Roanoke-Randolph game.
