ROANOKE, Va. — For the second consecutive day, junior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) tallied 20 kills, and this time led the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep at Hollins.
The Generals' (21-7, 9-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) 25-16, 25-12, 25-16 victory over Hollins (7-19, 1-9 ODAC) was the team's seventh straight win and 10th in its last 11 matches.
Along with 20 kills, Boles totaled 17 digs for her 13th double-double of the season. She reached the kill total, while needing only 31 attempts for a .581 hitting percentage. It was the third time this year she has had at least 20 kills in a match, and gives her 59 total in her last three matches. First-year outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) contributed 12 kills and added nine digs.
W&L used a two-setter offense with first-year Alex Kinzer (Greenville, S.C./Eastside) recording 24 assists and junior Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) totaling 15. Kinzer also added five aces, while Meleski had 11 digs. First-year libero Kasey Cannon (North Wales, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) led the defense with 18 digs. It marked the fifth-straight match she has had double-digit digs.
Senior Ally Reed and sophomore Lauren Hays led Hollins with 10 kills each. Sophomore Jessie Deese had a team-high 14 digs, while first-year Lela Moore had 21 assists.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday, October 24, for their final ODAC match of the season at Bridgewater.
