WASHINGTON, D.C. — In its final match at the Gallaudet Volleyball Worthington Classic, the Washington and Lee volleyball beat Trine, 3-1. The Generals went 3-1 at the Classic with junior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) making the all-tournament team.
Despite dropping the first set, W&L won the next three to secure the 23-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-18 victory. The win improved the Generals to 14-6, and was their third-straight victory. The loss dropped the Thunder to 14-7.
First-year outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) led the team with a season-high 18 kills and 15 digs. Boles also had a double-double with 14 kills and 16 digs. Senior right side Taylor Maxey (Poway, Calif./The Bishop's School) added nine kills, while first-year outside hitter Christina Kamis (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) had seven.
For the defense, five players had double-digit digs. Besides Boles and Lausberg, first-year setter Alex Kinzer (Greenville, S.C./Eastside) had 12, junior setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) had 12 and first-year defensive specialist Kasey Cannon (North Wales, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) had 11.
The Generals travel to fifth-ranked Christopher Newport on Tuesday, October 2, for a 7:00 pm match.
