LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team dropped its final match of the W&L Invitational on Saturday, 3-0, to Johns Hopkins.
The Blue Jays went undefeated on the weekend and improved their record to 8-0 on the season. The 25-16, 25-17, 25-13 loss dropped the Generals to 5-3 and ended the team's three-match winning streak.
Johns Hopkins' first-year right-side hitter Jasmine Warmington (Ontario, Calif./St. Lucy's Priory) led all players with eight kills and four block assists. Junior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas) led Washington and Lee with six kills.
It was the first match of the season in which the Generals did not record a service ace, and the team had a .078 hitting percentage for the match. Sophomore defensive specialist Kelly McManus (Osprey, Fla./Canterbury School) totaled 12 digs, and has recorded double-digit digs in each match this season.
Johns Hopkins went 4-0 on the weekend to win the W&L Invitational. Along with the tournament title, Warmington was named the tournament MVP. The all-tournament team is listed below.
The Generals enter ODAC play on Tuesday, September 11, when they travel to Eastern Mennonite for a 6:30 pm match.
