MARYVILLE, TENN. — In its second match on Friday, the Washington and Lee volleyball team lost to fourth-ranked Emory, 3-0, at the Maryville Invitational.
The loss was the first of the season for the Generals (1-1), while Emory (2-0) remained undefeated with the 25-16, 25-14, 25-21 victory.
Junior setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) totaled 20 assists and one service ace. Sophomore defensive specialist Kelly McManus (Osprey, Fla./Pine View) recorded 12 digs in the back row.
On the offense for W&L, first-year outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) notched eight kills, while sophomore middle blocker Katie Toomb (Lebanon, Ore./Lebanon) tallied five.
The Generals defeated Centre earlier on Friday, 3-1. W&L continues play at the invitational on Saturday at 10:00 am against Rhodes, and then finishes its weekend matches versus Maryville at 3:00 pm.
