W&L Volleyball Escapes With 3-2 Win Over Lynchburg
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee volleyball team rallied from an 0-2 deficit to pull out a 3-2 win over Lynchburg College on Saturday afternoon at Turner Gym.
W&L (25-2, 10-0 ODAC) pulled out the 18-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18, 15-11 victory to wrap up the conference regular season title and earn the No. 1 seed and home-court advantage in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 14-7 overall and 6-2 in the ODAC.
The Generals were led by sophomore outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's), who posted 15 kills, 11 digs and a pair of service aces. Senior outside hitter Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) added 11 kills and a pair of blocks.
Sophomore setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) posted 39 assists and 12 digs, and junior libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) had 17 digs and three service aces, including back-to-back aces in the fifth set to close out the match.
Elena Kritter led the Hornets with 18 kills and 12 digs. Rachel Huffman and Aricquel Payne added eight kills apiece. Rachel Turk and Brooke Moughon had 21 and 20 assists, respectively, and Turk chipped in 13 digs.
The Generals return to action on Saturday when it travels to Christopher Newport for a 4:00 pm contest.
