W&L Volleyball Blanks Marlins, 3-0
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team remained unbeaten in ODAC play with a 3-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at the Batten Center.
W&L moved to 16-2 on the year and 6-0 in conference play with the 25-23, 26-24, 25-19 sweep of the Marlins. VWC slipped to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in the ODAC.
Senior Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School) recorded a career-high 10 blocks in the win, becoming the first W&L player to notch at least 10 blocks in a match since Leslie Fishbeck did so against Roanoke in 2001.
Senior outside hitter Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) led the offense with 11 kills and sophomore middle blocker Emily Hudson (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) added nine kills. Sophomore outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) chipped in eight kills to go along with 10 digs.
Junior libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) also had 10 digs, as did sophomore setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin). Meleski led the team with 27 assists and first-year setter Corrine Hemmersbach (Torrance, Calif./Chadwick) added three service aces.
W&L returns to the court when it takes on Mary Washington at 1:00 pm.
