LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team continued its winning ways with a 3-0 win over Roanoke on Saturday morning at the Warner Center.
The Generals improved to 11-0 on the season and 3-0 in the ODAC with the 25-21, 25-8, 25-11 win. The Maroons held a commanding 20-13 lead in the first set before W&L pulled to within three points at 20-17. Following a W&L attack error that made it 21-17 in favor of Roanoke, the Generals rallied off the set's next eight points to grab an early 1-0 lead en route to the sweep.
Offensively, W&L hit .302 as a team led by sophomore outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's), show posted a match-high nine kills. Junior right side Taylor Maxey (Poway, Calif./The Bishop's School) added seven kills while hitting .667, and senior middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School) and first-year middle blocker Katie Toomb (Lebanon, Ore./Lebanon) each had five kills.
Sophomore setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) led the Generals with 25 assists, while contributing seven digs. Junior libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) had 10 digs to lead the defense and Toomb and Maxey each had three blocks, as W&L limited RC to a -.011 hitting percentage.
The Maroons (3-7, 1-1 ODAC) were led by senior outside hitter Kelsey Largen (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring), who posted seven kills. Junior Shannon Stone (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) had 16 assists and nine digs.
The Generals return to action later Saturday afternoon when they take on Maryville at 3:30 pm.
