LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team extended it season-opening win streak to 10 games with a 3-0 win over Hollins University on Friday evening at the Warner Center.
The Generals, who are off to the best start in school history at 10-0 (2-0 ODAC), made quick work of Hollins, defeating HU (4-7, 1-1) 25-6, 25-11, 25-21.
Sophomore outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's), the ODAC's leader in kills, led the Generals with 15 kills and a .424 hitting percentage. She also posted a team-high 14 digs and had a pair of solo blocks. Senior outside hitter Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook), sophomore middle blocker Emily Hudson (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) and first-year right side Shelby Flores (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos) each contributed six kills.
Senior outside hitter Megan Tomlinson (Petersburg, Pa./Huntingdon Area) had seven service aces for W&L, while adding eight digs. First-year setter Corinne Hemmersbach (Torrance, Calif./Chadwick) netted 28 assists and seven digs.
For Hollins, first-year middle blocker Lauren Hays (Saginaw, Texas/Boswell) finished with a team-high six kills. First-year defensive specialist Morgan Russell (Peoria, Ariz./Liberty) chipped in a team-high 12 digs, and junior outside hitter Ally Reed (Sterling, Va./Dominion) added 10 digs and four kills.
The Generals return to action on Saturday, as they face Roanoke College at 11:00 am and Maryville (Tenn.) at 3:30 pm. Both matches will be played at the Warner Center.
