W&L, which finished 19-14 before falling in the quarterfinal round of the conference tournament last season, returns several key players from last season, including senior middle blocker Louise Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr), senior setter Jenna Finger (Homer Glenn, Ill./Lockport Township) and sophomore defensive specialist Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant).
Brooks was a First Team All-ODAC selection a season ago after recording 296 kills and 75 blocks. Hill, an All-ODAC Honorable Mention honoree in 2009, returns after notching 502 digs in her debut campaign, the third-highest single-season total in W&L history. Finger saw time as a defensive specialist and a setter last year, registering 218 digs, 191 assists and 30 service aces.
W&L 2010 in search of its eighth conference title since 2000 when it hosts the W&L Invitational Sept. 10-11. The Generals begin tournament play on Sept. 10, against McDaniel at 5:30 pm.

W&L Volleyball Picked Second in ODAC Preseason Poll
FOREST, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2010 Volleyball Preseason Poll and Washington and Lee was picked to finish second in the annual coach’s survey.
Defending ODAC Champion Randolph-Macon received eight
first-place votes en route to a total of 116 points to earn the top
spot in the poll. The Yellow Jackets were followed by W&L (98
points, 1 first-place vote), Lynchburg (97 points, 1 first-place
vote), Virginia Wesleyan (93 points) and Roanoke (81 points, 1
first-place vote) to complete the Top 5. Bridgewater (74), Emory
& Henry (51), Guilford (42), Eastern Mennonite (36), Randolph
(25), and Sweet Briar (13) rounded out the poll.
