W&L Places Three Players on VaSID All-State Volleyball Teams
DANVILLE, Va. -- Washington and Lee first-year volleyball player M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) was among three Generals honored by the Virginia Sports Information Directors recently.
Boles led the Generals to a 28-7 overall record and W&L advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She led the ODAC with 424 kills, the sixth-highest season total in school history, and finished fourth in the league with 49 service aces. Boles also ranked among the league leaders with a .221 hitting percentage and 343 digs, while adding 42 blocks and 23 assists.
Having previously earned First Team All-ODAC honors, as well as ODAC Rookie of the Year, AVCA South Region Rookie of the Year and Honorable Mention All-Region accolades, Boles is the first General to earn VaSID Rookie of the Year honors.
Dee, a First Team All-ODAC honoree, earned VaSID Second Team All-State laurels after leading W&L and placing second in the ODAC with 125 total blocks, including 32 solo efforts. The 125 blocks are the second-most in a season in school history. She also added 251 kills, 60 digs and 18 service aces in 124 sets played.
Hill was named to the Second Team All-State squad after leading the ODAC with 540 digs - the second-highest season total at W&L. A first team all-conference selection, she also added 45 service aces and 22 assists in a league-high 126 sets played. Over her first two seasons, she has already recorded 1,042 digs and is currently ranked eighth all-time in digs at Washington and Lee.
Jessie Heavenrich of Christopher Newport University was named the VaSID College Division Player of the Year and CNU Head Coach Lindsay Birch took home Coach of the Year honors.
