W&L's Boles Named South Region Freshman of the Year by AVCA

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its 2010 All-Region teams on Thursday evening and Washington and Lee first-year outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) was named the South Region Freshman of the Year in addition being named to the All-South Honorable Mention squad.

Boles, who was also named the ODAC Rookie of the Year and was a First Team All-ODAC selection, led both W&L and the ODAC with 396 kills and 48 service aces during the regular season.

She also added 319 digs and 38 blocks while playing in 116 of a possible 120 sets in her debut season.

Washington and Lee (27-6) will begin play in the Division III NCAA Tournament on Friday when it takes on Mt. St. Joseph (21-10) at 5:30 pm as part of the Emory Regional.
