NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team saw a rally come up just short in falling, 3-2, to No. 10 Wis.-Oshkosh on Saturday afternoon at the CNU Invitational.
The Generals (14-4) dropped the first two sets, 25-18, 25-15 before taking the next two, 25-19, 25-21 to force a deciding fifth set. The Titans (18-3) held off W&L, 15-13 to escape with the win.
First-year outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) led W&L with a team-high 14 kills while also adding 13 digs and three service aces. Senior middle blocker Louise Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) added 12 kills with a .407 hitting percentage and junior outside hitter Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) chipped in nine kills.
First-year setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) totaled 43 assists to go with 13 digs and sophomore libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) led W&L with 14 digs and added three service aces.
W&L returns to action at 1:00 pm when they take on Virginia Wesleyan to close out play at the CNU Invitational.
