Generals Sweep Thiel, 3-0, in Volleyball Action

MARIETTA, Ohio -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team opened the Pioneer Volleyball Classic hosted by Marietta College with a 3-0 win over Thiel on Friday night.

W&L won its eighth-straight match, 25-21, 25-21, 27-25 to improve to 9-1 on the season, while the Tomcats fell to 5-7.
Junior outside hitter Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) led the Generals' offense with 14 kills. Junior middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School) added 11 kills and hit .733 for the match, while first-year outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) also recorded 11 kills.
First-year setter Nikki DelZenero (Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale Central) posted 26 assists in two sets and classmate Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) added 10 assists in the final set.
Sophomore libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) led W&L with 16 digs, while senior defensive specialists Summer Goldberg (Marietta, Ga./Woodward Academy) and Jenna Finger (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) added 13 and 11 digs, respectively.
The Generals return to action on day two of the Pioneer Classic on Saturday when they take on Marietta at 11:00 am.
