W&L Volleyball Defeats Transylvania, 3-0
LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee volleyball team won the W&L Invitational for the seventh time with a 3-0 sweep of Transylvania on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center.
In what turned out to be the tournament-deciding match, the Generals were led by first-year outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's), who tallied 11 kills to go with five digs and three service aces. Boles, who recorded 50 kills, 40 digs and 13 service aces over the weekend, was honored as the tournament's MVP.
First-year setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) and junior middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School) were also named to the All-Tournament team. Dee posted five kills and three blocks in the final match, while Meleski registered 30 assists and eight digs.
Sophomore libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) led the Generals with 16 digs, while senior defensive specialist Jenna Finger (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) added eight digs and three service aces.
The Generals return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Guilford for a 7:00 pm match.
