W&L's Rachael Phillips Earns All-State Recognition

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior outside hitter Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) has been named to the College Division Volleyball All-State Second Team as selected by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).

Phillips played in 105 sets this season and led the Generals with 335 kills (3.19/set), which was good for fourth in the league. She also recorded 236 digs and 35 blocks.

This is the third time in her career that she has been named to the all-state team. She was also a three-time all-conference honoree and finishes her career ranked fourth all-time at W&L with 1,254 kills and fifth all-time in attacks with 3,298.

Phillips was the 2008 ODAC Player of the Year and an Honorable Mention All-American in 2007.

The Generals fell short in their quest for a ninth-straight ODAC Championship, with a 3-2 loss to Roanoke in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. W&L finished the season with an overall record of 19-14 and an ODAC mark of 8-2.
