SALEM, Va. – Washington and Lee University has claimed two Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Week Awards for the week ending October 11.
Sophomore running back Jonathan Clemo (Salem, Va./Salem) was named the ODAC Offensive Player of the Week for football, while senior setter Kristi Stevens (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission South) was selected as the ODAC Volleyball Player of the Week.
Clemo garnered the award after helping lead the Generals to a 28-14 homecoming victory over Catholic on Saturday afternoon. W&L racked up 316 rushing yards in the win led by Clemo, who carried 23 times for a career-high 137 yards and one touchdown. He also snared two passes for nine yards.
For the season, Clemo leads the Generals and ranks third in the ODAC in rushing with 564 yards and seven touchdowns on 117 carries. He has also caught nine passes for 51 yards.
The W&L football team is currently 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the ODAC. The Generals will travel to Hampden-Sydney (6-0, 3-0) on Saturday for a 1:00 pm showdown with the Tigers.
Stevens helped lead the volleyball team to a 5-0 record for the week, including a tournament championship at the Averett Tournament over the weekend. Stevens was named to the all-tournament team at Averett after averaging 32.5 assists per match and totaling eight kills and 41 digs. She also had 42 assists and 15 digs in a 3-2 win over Lynchburg College on Wednesday afternoon.
On the year, Stevens has played in 54 sets and has totaled 195 assists and 130 digs. She currently ranks sixth all-time at W&L with 1,691 career assists.
The W&L volleyball team has posted an 10-10 overall record and 4-2 mark in the ODAC. The Generals will play four matches this week starting with a road tilt against Sweet Briar on Tuesday at 6:30 pm.
