Three W&L Volleyball Players Honored by ODAC
SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its 2009 Volleyball All-Conference squads recently and W&L had three players honored.
Senior outside hitter Rachel Phillips (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) and junior middle blocker Louise Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) were both named First Team All-ODAC, while first-year libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) was named to the Honorable Mention squad.
For Phillips, this marks the third-straight year that she has been named First Team All-ODAC. She played in 105 sets this season and led the Generals with 335 kills (3.19/set), which was good for fourth in the league. She also recorded 236 digs and 35 blocks. Phillips finishes her career ranked fourth all-time at W&L with 1,254 kills and fifth all-time in attacks with 3,298.
Brooks was an all-conference honoree for the first time in her career after logging 296 kills in 113 sets (2.63/set) while hitting .264. Both of those marks were good for ninth in the ODAC. She also finished second on the team with 75 blocks, including a team-high 24 solo blocks, while chipping in 121 digs and 24 service aces.
Rounding out the honorees for W&L was Hill, who was the only General to play in all 117 sets this season en route to an honorable mention all-conference citation. She posted a team-high 502 digs (4.29/set) in her debut season, a total that was good for fifth in the ODAC and was also the third-highest single-season total at W&L. Additionally, she recorded 21 service aces and served at a .929 clip on the season.
