W&L Women's Track and Field Finishes Second at Outdoor ODAC's

LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee women's track and field team won two individual events on Saturday of the Outdoor ODAC Championship at Wilson Field on its way to a second-place team finish out of nine teams.

Bridgewater won the women's title with 202.5 points. The Generals totaled 156 points and Roanoke claimed third (108.5 points).

Along with winning the triple jump, senior Dana Lee (Nashville, Tenn./St. Cecilia Academy) scored in five events. She took the top spot in the triple jump at 10.73m (35'2.50"). First-year Alexa Castellana (Boonton, N.J./Mountain Lakes) was seventh in the event at 10.19m (33'5.25").

Lee finished third in the 400m in 59.62. Senior Kara Farroni (Willoughby, Ohio/Willoughby South) crossed the finish line in fifth (1:01.72). In the 200m, Lee was sixth (27.51), while sophomore Jessica Rosenwasser (New York, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) claimed eighth (29.06).

The Generals' relays placed in the Top 3 in both events. The 4x400m relay took third in 4:09.17. The quartet consisted of Farroni, junior Kaleigh Hinton (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park), senior Catherine Fonvielle (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) and Lee. The 4x100m was third as well with a time of 1:06.26. The foursome consisted of Lee, Farroni, Rosenwaser and senior Ali Peacock (Libertyville, Ill./Vernon Hills).

Peacock won the the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.26 and Hinton was second in 1:06.52. Sophomore Samantha Yates (Birmingham, Ala./St. Paul's School) won the 5,000m with a time of 17:39.26.  

The Generals took four of the Top 5 spots in the 1,500m. Junior Lily Arnold (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) was second in 4:57.86, and Yates finished third in 4:59.86. First-year Julia Moody (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) claimed fourth (5:00.12) and first-year Katie Bearup (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) was fifth (5:00.26).

In the 800m, the Blue and White had three athletes place in the Top 7. Fonvielle took second in 2:16.10, Arnold was fourth (2:23.62) and first-year Olivia Cooper (Newtown Square, Pa./Radnor) claimed seventh with a time of 2:30.21.

First-year Nikki Doherty (Arlington, Mass./Arlington Catholic) earned Third Team All-ODAC recognition in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.32. Hinton was fourth in the event in 16.41. In the 100m, Rosenwasser finished eighth with a time of 13.83. Senior Jamie White (Prosser, Wash./Prosser) claimed fourth in the discus at 32.99m, while senior Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) took sixth at 31.60m (103'8.25").

All competitors and relays that finished in the Top 3 in an event earned All-ODAC accolades. The Generals next compete at the Liberty Twilight on May 3.
