HIGH POINT, N.C. — The Washington and Lee women's track and field team competed at the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point University and the Doc Jopson Invitational hosted by Bridgewater on Saturday.
At High Point, senior Ali Peacock (Libertyville, Ill./Vernon Hills) finished 14th in the 400m hurdles and was the top Division III competitor with a career-best time of 1:04.66. The Generals had two runners in the 800m. Senior Catherine Fonvielle (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) was third among D III competitor's in 2:20.88, and junior Lily Arnold (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) took fourth in D III with a time of 2:21.72.
The Blue and White also had two runners in the 100m hurdles. First-year Nikki Doherty (Arlington, Mass./Arlington Catholic) finished third in Division III in 16.28, and junior Kaleigh Hinton (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) placed fourth in D III in 16.65.
At the Doc Jopson Invitational, senior Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) finished in the Top 4 in three throwing events. She was third in the hammer throw at 34.97m (114'9.00"), took third in the discus at 33.06m (108'5.75") and claimed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 10.45m (34'3.50").
The Generals will break for finals and next compete at the WildCat Invitational on April 15.
