Lee & Hinton Lead W&L Women's Track & Field at Roanoke Invitational

SALEM, Va. — Sophomore Kaleigh Hinton (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) was named the Athlete of the Meet and junior Dana Lee (Nashville, Tenn./St. Cecilia Academy) broke her own W&L record in the 100m, as the Washington and Lee women's track and field team won the Roanoke College Invitational on Saturday.

The Generals finished with 137 points, Roanoke was second (131 points) and Mary Washington placed third with 91.5 points.

Hinton won both the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles and was a part of the winning 4x400m relay. She crossed the finish line in the 100m hurdles with a personal best time of 16.24. In the 400m hurdles, she won in 1:06.51.

The 4x400m relay won with a time of 4:08.98. Along with Hinton, the quartet consisted of juniors Kara Farroni (Willoughby, Ohio/Willoughby South), Catherine Fonvielle (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) and Lee. Lee placed fourth in the 100m in 13.27. In the 100m prelims, she broke her own record in 12.35. Her previous record was 12.63 set two years ago.

Lee also won the long jump with a leap of 5.30m (17'4.75"), and took second in the triple jump at 10.73m (35'2.50"). Lee set a new personal best in the 200m, while finishing second in 25.75.

First-year Lily Arnold (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) won the 1,500m with a time of 4:58.80. In the 800m, Fonvielle took first with a personal best time of 2:19.91. First-year Samantha Yates (Birmingham, Ala./St. Paul's School) was second (2:24.76). Farroni was second in the 400m in 1:00.75.

In the pole vault, junior Lizzy Stanton (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista South) claimed first at 3.32m (10'10.75"). Senior Kaela Fiutak (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) was second at 2.97m (9'9.00").

The 4x100m relay placed second with a time of 51.42. The foursome consisted of junior Ali Peacock (Libertyville, Ill./Vernon HIlls), senior Molly Ungrady (Ponte Vedra Beach. Fla./The Bolles School), Farroni and first-year Jessica Rosenwasser (New York, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart).

The Generals next compete at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on April 16.
