The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2013-14 All-Academic Team on Monday and Washington and Lee once again led the league in number of athletes honored.

The College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) announced its 2013-14 Capital One Division III Academic All-America Track and Field and Cross Country teams on Tuesday and Washington and Lee senior Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) was among those honored.

Tallman and Lee Named ODAC Track and Field Athletes of the Year
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Year on Tuesday, and Washington and Lee senior Zander Tallman (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook-Kingswood) took home the male award, while first-year Dana Lee (Nashville, Tenn./St. Cecilia Academy) snagged the women’s honor.

Annelise Madison Earns ODAC's Marjorie Berkley Award
Washington and Lee senior track and field and cross country athlete Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) was selected as the recipient of the Marjorie Berkley Award as announced by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference on Monday. The honor is presented to the league’s top female scholar-athlete. Guilford baseball player John Macon Smith was tabbed the winner of the Harry G. “Doc” Jopson Award as the top male scholar-athlete.

At the NCAA Division III Women’s Track and Field Outdoor Championship hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Thursday, Washington and Lee first-year Dana Lee (Nashville, Tenn./St. Cecilia Academy) placed seventh in the long jump to earn All-America honors.

In her final meet of the season on Friday, first-year Lizzy Stanton (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista South) set a career best to win the pole vault as the Washington and Lee women’s track and field team’s lone representative at the Salisbury Final Qualifier.

W&L Claims the 2014 ODAC Overall Sports Champion Cup
For the 12th-consecutive year, Washington and Lee University has claimed the Dan Wooldridge Overall Sports Champion Cup, as announced by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference on Tuesday. The Generals claimed both the Women’s Commissioner’s Cup and the Men’s Commissioner’s Cup on their way to the overall title.

A Record Number of W&L Students Earn Winter Scholar-Athlete Awards
Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 210 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

Senior Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) earned the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award, and first-year Dana Lee (Nashville, Tenn./St. Cecilia Academy) was named the Co-Rookie of the Meet, as the Washington and Lee women’s track and field team took third at the Outdoor ODAC Championship hosted by Roanoke on Saturday.

First-year Dana Lee (Nashville, Tenn./St. Cecilia Academy) led the Washington and Lee women’s track and field team at the Commonwealth Duals on Saturday. Competing against Christopher Newport and Virginia Wesleyan, Lee won two events and set a new school record.

Madison & Lee Lead Women's T&F to Third at ODAC Championship
The Washington and Lee women’s track and field team tied for third at the ODAC Indoor Championship on Sunday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Va. Bridgewater took the team title with 125 points, Roanoke was second (97) and Lynchburg and the Generals tied with 90 points each.

The Washington and Lee women’s indoor track and field team opened the 2014 season this weekend at the Liberty Kickoff, and first-year Lizzie Stanton (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista South) made the most of her first collegiate meet by breaking the indoor school record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.45m (11’03.75”).

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the Division III Women’s Scholar Athletes of the Year and the All-Academic honorees recently, and Washington and Lee rising junior Janey Fugate (Atlanta, Ga./Whitefield Academy) garnered All-Academic laurels. The Generals were also named a USTFCCCA 2013 All-Academic Team.
