LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's track & field team wrapped up day two of the W&L-VMI Carnival on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Foster Stadium.
Headlining the finishers for W&L were sophomore Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) and first-year Janey Fugate, who each recorded third-place finishes. Madison was third overall in the 800m with a time off 2:19.10 and Fugate was third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.87.
The 4x100m relay team of junior Marissa Thompson (Chatham, Va./Chatham), sophomore Julia Murray (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) , senior Natalie Stier (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) and Fugate took fifth overall, posting a time of 51.06.
Sophomore Lauren Woodie (Bluefield, Va./Graham) added a seventh-place finish in the 800m (2:24.54) and junior Taylor Maxey (Poway, Calif./Bishop's School) and sophomore Leigh Dannhauser (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxvile) took fifth in the shot put and high jump, respectively. Maxey threw 10.88 for a personal best mark in the shot and Dannhauser cleared 1.48 meters in the high jump.
W&L returns to action on Saturday when they take part in the Commonwealth Duals hosted by Christopher Newport beginning at 12:00 pm.
