W&L Women's T&F In Action at W&L-VMI Carnival
LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's track & field team wrapped up the two-day W&L-VMI Carnival at Wilson Field on Saturday afternoon with a total of 10 Top 10 finishes.
Sophomore Marissa Thompson (Chatham, Va./Chatham) narrowly missed winning the 100m as she finished in second place with a time of 12.77, just one hundreth of a second of first.
Sophomore Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) was third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:52.88 and first-year Lauren Woodie (Bluefield, Va./Graham) notched a fourth-place finish in the 200m with a time of 1:01.36.
In the 100m hurdles, first-year Kelsey McClary (Greenwood, Va./Western Albermarle) was fifth in 16.58 and classmate Leigh Dannhauser (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) was sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.42 meters.
The Generals received a pair of Top 10's in the pole vault as first-years Alex Hagan (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) and Anna Lauren Hopkin (Memphis, Tenn./St. Mary's) placed ninth and 10th, respectively. Each recorded a height of 2.30 meters.
W&L returns to the track on Saturday when it takes part in the Liberty Invitational beginning at 9:30 am.
