LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's track & field recorded eight Top five finishes among Div. III competitors and set one school record as it wrapped up the two-day Liberty Open & Multi's on Saturday evening.
Sophomore Marissa Thompson (Chatham, Va./Chatham) led the Generals with three Top 5's, including a first-place finish in the 60m with a school-record time of 8.14. She also finished second in the long jump (5.07m), as well as the 200m (27.31).
Sophomore Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) finished first in the mile with a time of 5:32.73 and came back to finish fourth in the 1000m (3:19.47).
First-year Lauren Woodie (Bluefield, Va./Graham) was second in the 400m (1:02.73) and classmate Kelsey McClary (Greenwood, Va./Western Albermarle) took second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.94.
Sophomore Molly Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan) rounded out the Generals top finishers with a second-place finish in the 3000m in 11:32.61.
W&L returns to the track on Saturday when it takes part in the VMI Relays beginning at 9:00 am.
