LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's track & field team ran to a 67-67 tie against Roanoke College in a dual meet held at Virginia Military Institute on Saturday.
W&L posted six individual event wins on the day as well as a victory in the 4x400m relay.
Sophomore Marissa Thompson (Chatham, Va./Chatham) led the Generals with victories in the 55m dash (7.59), the long jump (5.01m) and she was also a member of the winning 4x400m relay team (4:34.08).
Thompson was joined on the 4x400 team by first-years Lauren Woodie (Bluefield, Va./Graham), Kelsey McClary (Greenwood, Va./Western Albermarle) and Julia Murray (Bridgewater, Va./Bridgewater-Raritan).
Woodie also won the 500m (1:24.70) and McClary took the 55m hurdles with a time of 9.22. Senior Katherin Fenwick (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) won the 1000m in 3:30.68 and first-year Alex Hagan (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) won the pole vault, clearing 2.37m.
The Generals return to action on Saturday at the Liberty Open & Multi's beginning at 8:30 am.
