Eric Ishida is in his fifth season as the head women's tennis coach at Washington and Lee.  Ishida served as interim head coach during the 2007-08 season and led the Generals to a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division III Tournament.  He guided W&L to a 28-1 overall record, an ODAC title and No. 1 National Ranking throughout the season. Ishida also serves as the assistant director of W&L's Duchossois Tennis Center.

In 2009, Ishida led W&L to a 20-5 overall record, a final national ranking of No. 5 and saw his team win its 19th ODAC title while sweeping league Player of the Year, Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year accolades.

His squad finished with a 19-7 record during the 2010 campaign, claiming its 20th ODAC title and advancing to the third round of the NCAA Team Championships. Following the season, he was named the USTA Virginia Coach of the Year.

Most recently, Ishida's 2011 team finished the season with a 20-7 overall record, winning the ODAC title and advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals.  For his efforts, he was again lauded with the ODAC Coach of the Year Award.

Ishida was an assistant coach for the Generals' run to the NCAA Division III National Championship during the 2006-07 season.  He helped lead W&L to a 25-1 overall record, an Old Dominion Athletic Conference title and the school's run through the NCAA Tournament towards its' first-ever national title.

A 2004 graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor of science degree in physical education, Ishida competed on the tennis team at Wright State University for three years before completing his degree work at Ohio University. While at Ohio University he was the student manager of the Ohio University Golf and Tennis Center and vice president, coach, and player for the OU Club tennis team.

Active in the local and national tennis community, Ishida currently serves on the board of the Rockbridge County Tennis Association and sits on the ITA Atlantic South Rankings Committee. Ishida is a USPTA P1 Certified Teaching Professional and has been instructing and coaching tennis since 2002.
