Meighan Falls in Quarterfinal Round of NCAA Singles Tournament
CLAREMONT, Calif. -- Junior Sonja Meighan (McLean, Va. / Flint Hill) competed in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Singles Championship on Friday morning, hosted by Claremont Mudd Scripps.
As the No. 2 seed, Meighan fell to Kathleen Elkins from Williams, 6-1, 7-5. She finished her junior season with a 23-4 singles record, and is currently ranked second in the Atlantic South region.
Earlier in the season, Meighan won the ITA Southeast Regional Singles Championship and finished second at the ITA Small College Championships to earn All-America honors for the second time in her career. She was also named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-ODAC for the third-straight season.
The Generals ended their season earning their 12th consecutive ODAC Championship and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Team Championship before falling to top-seeded Emory.
