W&L Women's Tennis Falls to JMU, 8-1

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 22nd-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team fell to James Madison on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 8-1.

The Generals dropped all six singles matches and managed just one doubles victory as juniors Sonja Meighan (McLean, Va. / Flint Hill) and Patricia Kirkland (Charleston, S.C. / Ashley Hall) defeated the team of junior Taylor Pinchoff (Sylvan Lake, Mich. / West Bloomfield) and first-year Alex Huie (The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands), 9-7, at No. 1 doubles.

With the loss, W&L fell to 2-1 for the season and 1-1 at home, while JMU improved to 3-2 with the win.

Washington and Lee will return to action next Tuesday when it hosts Lynchburg for a 4:00 pm contest.
