W&L Women's Tennis Defeats Emory & Henry, 5-0

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's tennis team continued its winning streak in conference play with 5-0 over Emory & Henry on Sunday at the Duchoissois Tennis Center.

The Generals did not give up a single point in the match that included two wins by sophomores Sonja Meighan (McLean, Va./Flint Hill) and Patricia Kirkland (Charleston, S.C./Ashley Hall). The duo teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-0, while Meighan went 6-0, 6-0 as the No. 1 singles competitor and Kirkland defeated the Wasps in the No. 2 singles spot. 

With the win, W&L is now 7-2 overall, while E&H falls to 5-6 on the year.

The Generals return to action on Wednesday, when they face Shenandoah and Roanoke at home and Bridgewater on the road.
