MOBILE, Ala. – The Washington and Lee women's tennis team recorded two wins on day one of the ITA National Small College Championships on Thursday afternoon at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
Sophomore Meghan Buell (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) began the day with a win in the first round of the singles competition, defeating Crystal Lim of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 2-6, 6-2, 6-0.
Buell then teamed up with junior Claire Cahill (Austin, Texas) for first-round action in doubles competition, where the duo took down Alexandra Scotten and Laura Wade from UC Santa Cruz, 5-7, 6-4, 10-8.
With the wins, both Generals will advance to the semifinal round in their respective events. In singles action, Buell will face Gabrielle Clark from Emory, with the match set to begin at 8:30 am on Friday, while Buell and Cahill will go up against Courtney Lawless and Alyssa Roberg from Whitman in doubles play at 1:00 pm.
