W&L Women's Tennis Defeats Ohio Northern in NCAA Play, 5-0

ATLANTA, Ga. – The seventh-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team won its opener in the 2012 NCAA Division III Tournament, defeating Ohio Northern in the second round by a score of 5-0 on Saturday at Emory University.

The Generals dropped just seven points in doubles play en route to holding a 3-0 advantage entering singles competition. 

In singles, senior Lauren Lukas (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) notched a 6-1, 6-1 win over sophomore Michelle Tuma at No. 1 and first-year Meghan Buell (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over sophomore Carly Olmstead at No. 3 to close out the match.

The win improved W&L to 21-5 overall, while ONU fell to 23-5.

Washington and Lee advances to Sunday's third round where it will square off against fifth-ranked Emory at 12:00 pm.
