Generals Defeat Maroons, 7-0, in Women's Tennis
LEXINGTON, Va. – The third-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team turned in a perfect 7-0 victory against Roanoke in ODAC action on Thursday afternoon at the Duchossois Tennis Center.
W&L (12-2) recorded three 8-0 scores in doubles action and followed through in singles play with five victories at the No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 positions to take its eighth-consecutive conference win.
Four Generals posted 2-0 records on the day. First-years Sonja Meighan (McLean, Va./Flint Hill) and Patricia Kirkland (Charleston, S.C./Ashley Hall) partnered up at the winning No. 1 doubles spot and then continued with wins at both No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Senior Lauren Lukas (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) and first-year Allison Hupalo (Weston, Mass./Weston) also claimed two victories in the match.
