W&L Women's Tennis Advances to ITA Indoor National Semifinals
GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated Johns Hopkins, 5-4, in the first day of competition at the ITA Indoor National Championships, hosted by DePauw University.
The Generals went 2-1 in doubles play, but dropped three singles matches to bring the team totals to the one-point difference.
Senior Lauren Lukas (Manitowac, Wis./Lincoln) was the only W&L athlete to win both her single and double games today. Lukas teamed up with first-year Meghan Buell (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) at the No. 3 doubles position, posting an 8-5 score to defeat Elaine Baik and Macie Wilkins of JHU. Lukas then went on to claim a victory at the No. 2 singles spot, beating JHU's Hailey Hogan.
W&L will return to action Saturday when they face DePauw in the semifinals of the ITA Indoor National Championships for a 2:00 pm contest.
