W&L Women's Tennis Runs Past DePauw, 7-2
GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Washington and Lee women's tennis team has earned a spot in the ITA Indoor National Championship match after defeating host DePauw University, 7-2, on Saturday at the DePauw Indoor Tennis Center.
The Generals took an early 2-1 lead in doubles play with victories at both the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
W&L then went on to drop just one match in singles play, claiming a win at the No. 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 spots. Senior Lauren Lukas, (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) and first-years Sonja Meighan (McLean, Va./Flint Hill), Lindsey Burke (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Island) and Patricia Kirkland (Charleston, S.C./Ashley Hall) all recorded a perfect 2-0 score on the day.
The Generals will next face Carnegie Mellon in the championship match on Sunday at 10:00 am.
