NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's tennis team took part in day one of the Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Newport News, Va.
Top finishers for the Generals on the day were junior Christina Douglas (Fayetteville, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) and senior Ann Morris (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic), who won both of their matches on the day. Douglas defeated Loyola's Judy Lite, 6-2, 6-1, and followed that up with a win over Allison Solberg of Villanova, 3-6, 6-2, 10-8. Morris topped Morgen Kiser from Army, 6-1, 6-1, and Noelle Kaufmann of Navy, 7-5, 6-0.
Seniors Trelsie Sadler (Wakefield, R.I./Groton School) and Lauren Lukas (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) and junior Sallie Griffin (Warrenton, Va./Highland) all one one match and dropped one, while senior Jen Snyder (Highland Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) dropped both of her matches.
