Svensson Named Assistant Women's Tennis Coach
Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has
announced the addition of Bianca Svensson as an assistant women's
tennis coach in the Generals' athletic department.
Svensson joins the W&L tennis staff after graduating from the
University of Alabama this past spring with a degree in political
science and a minor psychology. While at Alabama, Svensson was a
member of the women's tennis program, competing with the Crimson
Tide for two seasons. During that time, she played positions 4-6
singles and 1-3 doubles, posting a 29-34 singles and a 31-43
doubles ledger. She was named to the ITA All-Academic Team both
seasons, in addition to earning Spring Academic All-SEC Honor Roll
recognition as a sophomore and being named to the SEC Freshmen
All-Academic Team.
After being sidelined by injuries during her junior and senior
seasons, Svensson assumed the responsibility of a student assistant
coach. In that role, she assisted the team with recruiting,
community service and other special events.
Svensson will assume her responsibilities at W&L
immediately.
