W&L Women's Tennis Cruises Past Wilkes in NCAA's, 5-0

MONROEVILLE, Pa. -- The Washington and Lee women's tennis team advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 5-0 victory over Wilkes University on Friday afternoon in Monroeville, Pa.

The Generals (19-6) and Colonels (16-2) were barely underway on the Carnegie Mellon campus in Pittsburgh when the match was postponed due to lightning and later was moved to an indoor facility in nearby Monroeville.  After the delays, W&L swept the doubles by dropping just seven games for a 3-0 lead.

In singles play, junior Jen Snyder (Highland Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) notched a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 and classmate Trelsie Sadler (Wakefield, R.I./Groton School) recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 to secure the 5-0 victory.

The Generals advance to the third round where they will take on host Carnegie Mellon on Saturday at 9:00 am.
